Faherty built my closet. Sunwashed tees, stretch terry five-pockets, the Belmar workshirt, two Whitewater hoodies. At some point you own enough of one brand that the next order feels like a rerun. So I spent a week reading fiber tags and fit notes across eighteen labels to find the brands like Faherty that do the same job without repeating the same closet.

Twelve made the cut. The rule was simple. Natural fibers first, relaxed or classic fits, washed and softened fabrics, and a price within shouting distance of Faherty. Every composition below was pulled from the brand’s own product pages on September 21, 2026.

Images in this post were made with AI from the brands’ product photos so you can see the pieces styled together. The product photos on each brand page are the reference. This post contains commissionable links.

What makes a brand like Faherty

Faherty sells three things at once: a washed, lived-in hand, a fit that is relaxed without being sloppy, and a coastal palette of sage, indigo, sand and bone. Copy those three and you have the lane. Most brands get one. The ones below get at least two.

Fiber matters more than logo. Faherty leans on organic cotton, hemp blends and recycled fibers, and the stretch terry that made its five-pockets famous is still mostly cotton. So I held every brand here to a natural-fiber standard. If a piece had polyester, nylon or elastane above trace amounts, I left it out.

Wythe New York

Wythe is the strongest Faherty-lane addition on this list. The founder came out of Ralph Lauren fabric research, and it shows: everything is pre-washed and softened, all cotton or wool, and cut to wear open over a tee. Prices sit below Faherty.

The Washed Flannel Workshirt in Glacier Plaid is $188 and the brand tells you to buy your normal size because it is meant to layer over a tee. Sixteen plaids were in stock when I checked. The Cotton Henley in Natural is $148 and sits halfway between a tee and a sweatshirt. The Flat Front Cotton Linen Twill Chino is 65 percent cotton, 35 percent linen, with a full 1940s leg and no elastane, at $228.

Skip the Tubular Pocket Tee, which runs slim, and the jacquard crews, which carry 26 percent acrylic. Returns are 14 days.

Corridor

Corridor is Brooklyn folk Americana with texture and a true regular fit. The Misha Overshirt is the piece: 10 oz cotton twill, four pockets, $295, and softened for everyday wear. The Garment Dye Tee is a 9 oz jersey at $95 that reads like a heavier Sunwashed. The Wide Twill Pant is 100 percent cotton at $265, and the leg is wide, wider than relaxed.

Read every long-sleeve page here. About a third of Corridor’s woven shirts are rayon, viscose or poly blends.

Alex Crane

Alex Crane is the Florida brand. Linen, organic cotton and merino, nothing else. The Ola Shirt in Lines is a $158 striped linen camp shirt you will wear open over a tee nine months a year. The Sun Tee is 100 percent knit linen from Normandy flax at $78. The Bay Sweater is a chunky organic cotton rib at $148 for the two weeks it drops below 60.

Pants stop at a 34 waist, so anyone above that sizes down into the relaxed cut. The 6 foot 2 model wears a large.

Save Khaki United

Think of Save Khaki as Buck Mason’s quieter, older cousin. Twenty years of USA-sewn Supima and organic cotton, dyed and finished in California. The Wide Wale Corduroy Trucker Jacket is the same shape as a denim jacket in soft 8-wale cord at $240. The American Jersey Pocket Tee is $75 and runs small, so buy a size up. The Weekend Chino is a garment-dyed, no-stretch cotton twill with an 18 inch leg opening at $180.

Alex Mill

Alex Mill has the Drexler and J.Crew lineage, generous true-to-size fits, and washed, broken-in shirting. The Garment Dyed Chore Jacket in Canvas is 100 percent cotton at $225 and light enough for a Florida evening. The Mill Shirt in Washed Chambray is $155 and roomy. The Flat Front Chino in Vintage Wash is the 100 percent cotton chino; the pleated version carries 2 percent elastane, so take the flat front.

Sizes run XS through XL and roomy. Most pants come in a 30 inch inseam.

Knickerbocker

Fits run relaxed to boxy, fabrics are Japanese and European, and two pieces here are among the best on the whole list. The Beefy Cotton Oxford in Bone and Olive Stripe is 6.5 oz Portuguese cloth with shell buttons at $195. The Market Compact Cotton Overshirt in Moss is $295 and the brand’s own description reads like a coastal brief: a relaxed overshirt designed for everyday layering. The T-Shirt in Oat Grey is $75.

The return window is 5 days to request, with a 2 percent restocking fee. Order deliberately.

Taylor Stitch

More rugged than Faherty, but the washed pieces are easy. The Ojai Jacket in Washed Indigo Corduroy is a 12 oz organic cotton chore coat at $248. The Sunset Henley in Washed Indigo Terry is 14 oz French terry at $128 and fades with wear. The Cutter Overshirt is 12.5 oz organic cotton twill designed to wear open at $178.

Read every composition. The Kenne, Shore and Portola jackets all carry nylon. Sizing is chest-based, so a large is a 42.

Jungmaven

Jungmaven is the next step from a hemp tee. Hemp and organic cotton throughout, cut and sewn in Los Angeles. The Baja Tee is a 7 oz 55 percent hemp jersey at $62. The Olympic Jacket is a 10 oz hemp twill chore coat at $242. The Pacific Coast Pant is $264.

Stick to items marked Men’s Sizing. Several styles are unisex and the brand says men should size up.

Sid Mashburn

Mashburn is the Todd Snyder lane more than the Faherty lane, but the Button-Down Sport Shirt in Madras at $145 and the Garment-Dyed Brush Pant in Canvas at $185 belong here. The brush pant is the one relaxed, non-stretch pant in the line. The house cut is trim, so read every fit note. Returns are a generous 45 days.

Portuguese Flannel

Pure shirting, cheap for the quality, made by a family shirtmaker in Portugal. The Stalia in Relaxed Fit is the one cut as an overshirt, about $161. The Labura Corduroy is about $221. Expect euro pricing, express shipping around $20 and possible duties on delivery. International returns are 14 days and you pay postage.

Merz b. Schwanen and Casatlantic

Two brands for the base layer and the bottom half. Merz b. Schwanen makes loopwheeled organic cotton in Germany; the 214 Relaxed Fit Midweight T-Shirt is about $127 and runs small, so take a 7 if you wear a large. Casatlantic makes trousers in Casablanca; the TAZA Cotton Trousers are about $201, shrink up to 3 percent on the first wash, and have a split waistband that lets out 3 to 4 cm.

The five to order first

If you only buy five things this season, here is the order. The Wythe Washed Flannel Workshirt, because it was built to wear open over a tee. The Corridor Misha Overshirt, because your denim jacket needs a partner. The Alex Crane Ola Shirt, because Delray Beach. The Knickerbocker Beefy Oxford, because it is the best non-slim oxford across all eighteen brands I checked. And the Koio Capri in Tundra, because your SeaVees have earned a rest.
