Wythe New York was started by a fabric researcher who left Ralph Lauren. It shows in the details. Everything is pre-washed and softened, many pieces use cotton, linen or wool, but some styles include synthetic fibers, and the cuts are made to wear open over a tee. Prices sit below Faherty for a similar hand. Of the eighteen brands I checked, it is the strongest addition for anyone whose closet is already half Faherty.

Seven pieces, two to skip, and three ways to wear the flannel. Checked on the brand’s site on September 21, 2026. This post contains commissionable links. Images were made with AI from the brand’s product photos.

Sizing and returns

The workshirts are cut to layer, so the brand tells you to buy your normal size. Shirts are sized by collar; a large is a 16, and Large Tall exists. For the Highland Cableknit, Wythe advises contacting the brand for sizing because the knit stretches. You have 14 days after receipt to request an eligible return. Returns carry a 5 percent restocking fee plus applicable shipping costs. Sale items are limited to store credit or exchange, and items discounted 40 percent or more are final sale.

Washed Flannel Workshirt

The Washed Flannel Workshirt in Glacier Plaid is 100 percent cotton brushed both sides, midweight, $188, with sixteen plaids in stock. Faded 1940s plaid, two chest pockets. The brand designed it to be worn open over a tee, and a pearlsnap version in the same fabric is on the site at the same price. The best single piece on my whole list.

Oxford Cloth Button Down

The Oxford Cloth Button Down in Blue and White Stripe is 100 percent cotton, washed, $160, also in evergreen stripe and vintage blue. Comfortably relaxed against the body, not slim, not baggy. A pre-washed soft-collar stripe oxford that wears open over a tee.

Washed Madras Workshirt

The Washed Madras Workshirt in Earthtone Stripe is 100 percent hand-spun, hand-woven cotton, $198, also in earthtone plaid. Not slim: a large is 24.5 inches pit to pit and 30.5 inches long. The madras guide puts it against the Mashburn version.

Cotton Henley

The Cotton Henley in Natural is 100 percent cotton, $148, also in faded olive and faded black. Halfway between a tee and a crewneck sweatshirt. The base layer under the flannel and the madras.

Highland Cableknit Sweater

The Highland Cableknit in Evergreen or Brown is 100 percent Andean highland wool, fully fashioned and hand-linked, $248, also in navy and cream. It stretches with wear; take the smaller size if between. Ivy cable in all-natural Peruvian wool.

Crewneck Sweatshirt

The Crewneck Sweatshirt in Faded Olive is 100 percent long-staple cotton with a fleece interior, made in Portugal, $148, also in heather grey and faded navy. The fit was revised roomier, so take your normal tee size.

Flat Front Cotton Linen Twill Chino

The Cotton Linen Twill Chino in Camp Khaki is 65 percent cotton, 35 percent linen, $228, also in unbleached and faded olive. Full 1940s leg, washed and softened, even waist sizes only. A 36 was stocked in some colors. Expect up to an inch of variance.

What to skip

The Tubular Pocket Tee, which is cut slim. The Tencel gabardine pearlsnaps and the jacquard crews, which carry 26 percent acrylic.

Three ways to wear the flannel

Open over the henley, sleeves down. Buttoned to the second button and tucked loosely with the sleeves rolled twice. Open over an olive crewneck when it drops below 60. Same shirt, three months of the year.

How the flannel fits three builds

Worn open, the flannel adds shoulder on a slim frame and skims a bigger one. Compare the exact shirt’s chart and the layers you plan to wear.

Frequently asked questions

Is Wythe New York related to Ralph Lauren?

Not by ownership. The founder worked in fabric research at Ralph Lauren before starting Wythe, and the washed, softened approach to cloth carries over.

Does Wythe run true to size?

Yes for the workshirts, which are cut to layer. Check the specific knit’s size guidance; the Highland Cableknit page asks shoppers to contact the brand. Chinos come in even sizes only.

Is Wythe cheaper than Faherty?

Slightly, for a similar hand. The flannel workshirt is $188 and the henley is $148.

What should I buy first from Wythe?

The Washed Flannel Workshirt in Glacier Plaid. It is the piece the brand built its reputation on and the one that does three jobs.
